The Šumavský skimaraton trails are located at an altitude of approx. 1000 m to 1150 m in the Šumava Forest.
The start and finish area on the outskirts of Kvilda is wide and perfect for this Euroloppet race.
All routes are challenging and alternate between forest and open areas. Šumava is an ideal cross-country skiing area and certainly challenges all runners at the Šumavský skimaraton. Very varied with long moderate climbs, but also double-decker passages, the courses in the Czech Republic are among the most beautiful in the Euroloppet series.
Event info for Šumavský skimaraton
The Sumavsky Ski Marathon starts in the Bohemian Forest, near the Austrian / Bavarian border, in Kvilda near Vimperk, one of the highest communities in the Czech Republic. In the middle of the Sumava National Park, the event attracts cross-country skiers from many nations to the picturesque Außergefild plateaus every year.
Kvilda and the nearby Modrava are the most important holiday centres of the Central Šumava. Many small inns along the cross-country trails and, in summer, along the bike trails, invite you to take a break and stop for a bite to eat.
Der Šumavský skimaraton ist bestens organisiert und wartet mit einem tollen Stadion am Ortsrand von Kvilda auf.
The event has been rated several times by Euroloppet runners as one of the best ski marathon events in Europe.
